Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

A spinal cord injury (SCI) involves damage to the spinal cord that results in a loss of function, such as mobility or sensation.  The spinal cord is a crucial part of the nervous system, running down the middle of the back and transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body.

Injuries can stem from trauma (like car accidents, falls, sports injuries) or from disease (such as cancer, arthritis, or infections).
